How to wear: Hats & Fascinators

Today I am happy to be collaborating with Patricia (or Tea) of to bring you a “How 2 Wear” hats and fascinators. I love how Tea styled her fascinator hat with her laced pink top bringing out the lovely features of her face and beaming smile through the bright vibrant colors. I love how her look can be worn to church, Easter parties, bridal or baby showers or to tea parties. Go to Tea’s page here to see how she styled her fascinator hat.

With spring weather upon us I have become quite the hat wearing lady as I somehow gravitate toward hats in the springtime. With Easter weekend coming up I know I will definitely be wearing my hats to egg hunts, church and to other events; however today I wanted to  show you how to style a hat to create a Boho vibe using an aztec patterm printed maxi skirt, black top, pendant necklace and cognac ankle boots.

To give the feel for a traveling bohemian I went with a patterned maxi skirt and cognac ankle booties.  I am sure this look would have been equally as fun with flared harem pants, flared pants or even skinny jeans but I went with what I wore that day to church instead and just added the ankle boots and hat for a more relaxed look.

Some of you may be wondering not only how to create a similar look but also where to even wear a hat or outfit like this to stand out and make a statement. Here are some fun options: music festivals, countryside walks, carnival, etc. The options for styling this hat for a boho feel are limitless and so are the places you can wear it too.

If you wear hats, how do you like to style your hats?

Want to see how else I have styled a hat for spring time:

I tell ya I can’t get enough of them. Thanks for reading today, outfit details below and who I am linking up with.

Outfit details: Hat: borrowed from sister//Shirt: Charlotte Russe (old)//Skirt: Rue 21 (old)//Boots: Dansko (gift)//Leggings: Kohls//Necklace: Redeemed Jewelry boutique.

Style Collaboration: Fedora Hat and Leather Cuff bracelet + GIVEAWAY

Happy Monday! I am excited to be collaborating again with blogger and new blogging friend Grace of on how we styled our white fedora hats and leather cuff bracelets.

I love how Grace incorporated her white fedora and leather cuff with spring colors and florals. Her look is polished enough for wearing to work but fun enough to wear out and about perhaps on a fun lunch date or shopping date. I just love how Grace incorporated other bracelets from charmed bracelets to other cuffed bracelets (from My Arm Charms) with her leather cuff.  Grace has styled her fedora and leather cuff in other ways as well but you will just have to check those out on her blog here.

I choose to style my white fedora with a striped black and white dress I got on super clearance back on Black Friday along with black flats and cardigan. My “Rock Star” blue leather cuff bracelet from My Arm Charms was added to the outfit along with a long chained necklace with bead hints in the same blue color. I wanted a casual look that day but something fun enough to wear to a baby shower which I attended that day in this outfit.
IMG_0216A baby shower was not the only shower happening that day. Rain showers and rain dances occurred towards the end of this photo shoot.

Today in celebration of this style collaboration with Grace, I have partnered up with My Arm Charms and Grace to giveaway this same blue leather “Rock Star” cuff you see gracing my arm today. I just love this cuff for it’s color and added charm. At first I thought the cuff wouldn’t fit my style but I was charmed other wise, it is just too cute. It snaps by snaps around the wrist and feels so comfortable. If you can’t wait to see if you won this bracelet (which is $14.99) then I encourage you to sign up for My Arm Charms e-mails so that you can receive offers, discounts and sometimes monthly giveaway news. When you subscribe to the e-mailing list you also receive $10 off a order subtotal of $30 minimum with a code. Now you can’t beat that and ALL the bracelets and watches are affordable. This giveaway is open until midnight March 30 and is open to participants with a US mailing address only. The more entries you complete the more points you will be able to receive. Please enter in the rafflecopter box below. Thank you and Goodluck!!!

Style Collaboration: Faux Fur Vest

fauxfurvestcollabToday I am excited to bring back another style collaboration post (see my holiday wear collaboration here, and mustard cardigan one here), this time with Grace of and we will be showing you how we styled our white faux fur vests for the spring weather coming.

I have known Grace for only a short period of time but I had originally started following her on Instagram but liked her style so much I just had to follow her blog and things have been great since. Grace blogs on outfits and her past travels and adventures everyday (even on the weekends). This girl is dedicated to her blog, fashion and her readers.

Today she has styled a great street or work wear outfit appropriate for spring. Although her vest has a touch of black at the bottom I just love how she incorporates little touches of black in her heels as well.  I also love how she incorporates the trendy marsala (burgundy) color through her lovely pants, and chambray with just the right amount of sparkle through her accessories as well. To view more on her vest and meet her go here.
IMG_0005I choose to style my white faux fur vest with a vintage floral boho blouse of mine (I mean vintage shirt in that this thing has been in my wardrobe for almost 8 years or more, and I still wear it each season). I topped off the look with white cropped pants and blue suede flats.
IMG_0009If you haven’t already read it before then you will know now. I LOVE wearing BLUE and will be incorporating more blue throughout my spring and summer wardrobe for sure, so of course this had to be a staple color with the vest, especially with spring around the corner.
IMG_0013The right amount of sparkle in the jewelry adds some fun and flirty elements to the vest, giving off an extra oomph of sparkle and light.
IMG_0017Don’t you just love photo bombs- that cone just ruins these pictures. But my hubby who took these pictures didn’t factor in the obvious, haha! God rest his soul!

Ways I have worn this same vest before are here and here for the winter season.

Fun fact: I now own a Cannon Rebel T5 EOS 1200D DSLR camera (used to take these photos). My hubby and I saved money in an envelope for this very camera since before Christmas and I ended up getting a HUGE package deal off of amazon for this Camera, tripod, lenses, filters, mini-tripod, strap, carry bag and more for only less than $500 on sale- It WAS WORTH IT! Any tips you might have on how to use this intimidating camera would be helpful!

*In these collaborations I select bloggers that are interested or that I happen to want to work with based on similar wardrobe items and we make it work and feature each other and share our different styles. Let me know if you are interested in a future style collaboration in the comments below.

Outfit details- Faur fur vest: Xhilaration (via Target a few months back on clearance)//Floral blouse: Charlotte Russe (very old)//Cropped Pants: Style & Co (old)//Shoes: via Plato’s Closet//Necklace: The Mint Julep Boutique//Earrings: part of a set from The Sparkle Exchange (buy here)//Lipstick: Avon- Lovey Dovey pink

DIY Busy Bags (for busy toddlers & preschoolers) part 2 and Busy Bag Swap

Months ago I posted a post titled “DIY Busy Bags (for busy toddlers and preschoolers),” (read post here) (pin here). Well today I am going to introduce you to a few more DIY busy bag ideas to help your toddler or preschooler with fun filled DIY learning games and activities. I will also fill you in on what each task helps your child in developmentally (motor, cognitive, etc.,)

Before I begin filling you in on the different activities I must let you know that all that you see here was not my original idea, but instead that of other pinners on Pinterest. These crafts were handmade by me at our local library “DIY busy bag” event months ago. I will include a pin of each activity as I go along.

The first DIY activity I would like to introduce you too is the “Go fishing” activity. (You can view the pin here to read up on this activity). This craft unlike the pin is made up of paper fish rather then felt fish. Basically, all you do is take two fish template cutouts, sandwich paper clips in between them, glue and then attach a magnetic washer or magnet onto a stringed straw or wooden stick to use to fish the fish up. You can view my results below as well as view my two year old son playing the game.

1558592_10101067380018993_6208334346329169232_n 10311765_10101067380023983_198812527501492717_n

This activity is great for eye hand coordination, patience, and counting fish. You could introduce different colored fish, maybe fish of different sizes. This is the perfect activity for toddlers and a great way to introduce subtracting or take away to your preschooler.

The second DIY busy bag activity I would like to introduce is the foam shaped lacing activity. All you do is make a template of a fish, house or other object and then trace this template onto foam and cut out the foam. I choose to do a butterfly. Next hole punch the shape all around, find some yarn and you can begin learning to lace (or your child that is).

I modified this activity by adding tape to the end of the yarn to help with pulling the string in and out of the holes easier. You can find the pin to this activity here. I find this activity great for eye-hand coordination, patience and fine motor.

My third and last busy bag craft is felt chain links.  This activity only requires different colored cut out strips of felt with opposite Velcro pieces on the font and back of each strip at the tip. My 5 year old enjoys this activity, my 2 year old son tries this activity but gets bored with it quick.

10687101_10101067380143743_4050765533386318954_n 10646961_10101067380009013_7180182243516798364_n

This activity is good for patterns, color recognition, counting strips linked and finally fine motor. You can find this pin here.

I hope you learned or were inspired by some new activities here or maybe got some ideas on what you want to work on with your toddler or preschooler. I have a few more “DIY Busy Bags” to blog about in the near future so I hope you can join in on that with me. Once again you can find these pins in the “Busy Bags” board of my Pinterest account here.

Now let’s see what kind of “busy bags” you can create! Today, I am excited to be partnering up with Keri of Living In This Season for a fun “Busy Bag Swap” opportunity. What this means is that Keri and I will have a sign up for anyone interested to participate in making two different busy bags to send to another blogger, a “swap”. What we would like to encourage you to do is make 2 of the busy bags for yourself and duplicate these to send to your matched up blogger, that way you have two that you made and then can share 2 more.  Once the teamed up bloggers have their 2 busy bags then there will be a designated day to show off what  busy bags were received in a post. If you are interested in signing up for this swap then e-mail Keri your name, blog URL, names and ages of your children so that matches can be made before the announced match up date of Monday, March 2 (or next Monday). Her e-mail address is The announcement of matched up bloggers will be made on the blog next Monday (March 2) and by e-mail. The Busy Bags must be mailed by Friday, March 13th and on Monday, March 30th Keri and I will host a link up so you can link up your busy bag swap posts. Age range for busy bags must be between the 1-5 years of age. Need more ideas on busy bags then there is always (just type Busy Bags for toddlers, preschoolers or Kindergarteners) or visit my previous Busy Bag post for ideas here, or my Busy Bags pinterest board here.

Thank you for dropping by today and considering a Busy Bag swap opportunity that will be fun for your kids, nieces, nephews, grand kids, neighbors kids, etc.,

I would love to connect with you and follow you. Here are my social media accounts below.

Blanket scarf and red sweater dress remix + Co- hosting Mix It Monday link up

Today I am excited to be guest co-hosting with Lauren of for the link up Mix It Mondays. I have been following Lauren’s blog for a while now and I am just amazed at how she can remix certain items from vests, chambray, a LBD and more every Monday. I also love that she is a new mommy and can still pull off looking so great, I am thrilled to be working with her today. Make sure you pay her a visit and check out what part of her wardrobe she has remixed.
Now on to my outfit, remix photos below and the link up. I look forward to checking your linked blogs out.
I have been wanting “the” Zara blanket scarf for months before the holidays and while I love my other Zara blue and green scarf I couldn’t find “the” one online for the price range needed except to find used ones by other bloggers and even those were pricey. With Christmas money burrowing a hole in my pocket I remembered several shops on instagram or through blog advertisements of shops that carried “similar” blanket scarves. After checking many of those sites, even and finding SOLD OUT everywhere I came upon and there it was for $15. Now I am glad to say this “similar” to Zara blanket scarf is now mine and I just love it, I wear it often and get loads of compliments on it.
I choose to belt the scarf around me for a poncho/cape effect but had a hard time pulling it off correctly, especially with the wind in these photos and moving around through out the day.
This red sweater dress is a favorite in color for me but honestly too tight, but with an added vest, jacket or even this scarf it hides the unflattering parts of my body.
Outfit details: Red dress: Old Navy//Blanket Scarf: Old Navy//Booties: gift//Purse: Michael Kors (gift)//Belt: thrifted// Lipstick: my own DIY (post on this coming up soon).

See how else I have worn this dress (even as a top).

Style Collaboration: Holiday Wear 3 ways, 3 bloggers

I am excited to bring to you today another style collaboration (see my last one here) with two lovely ladies, moms, and fashionistas that I have had the honor of getting to know better through the wonderful world of blogging.

I had wanted to come up with some collaborations for some time and contacted these two ladies as they had been interested in collaborating with me. Melissa was awesome enough to come up with the theme- holiday wear with the holidays coming up and I thought it was a brilliant idea.
Through collaborating with these ladies it has been nice to be real with each other and share in the love of totally different holiday outfits. Our outfits are all pretty casual with a touch of elegance and style for those holiday gatherings that we all know can either be dressed up or down or in between. As all three of us are moms I believe it is important to look nice and have some fun as well so I hope you will stay a bit and check these ladies out, visit their pages and enjoy meeting one another.

Susan of shows us today that you don’t have to wear heels or nice slacks and dress to celebrate the holidays but that it is just as fun in converse sneakers, boyfriend distressed jeans and layered tops and vest. Susan is a wife and mom to her 13 year old daughter and is a dog lover, here lab dog just had leg surgery.  If you could keep her family in your thoughts in prayers for their pups healing. You can visit her styled holiday post here.

Melissa of added a dressier outfit. I adore the chiffon pleated skirt paired with a graphic tee. The cardigan touch brings it all together to create a elegant formal outfit.  No doubt about it Melissa will be the talk (in a good way) of the party in her cute outfit. Melissa is a wife and mom to a 2 in a half year old son. You can view her outfit post here.

For this collaboration I am including photos taken from our personal friend and photographer Cary Elizabeth Photography. She has done 3 photo shoots for us now and because we were doing Christmas photos I asked if she could do some portraits and outfit shots for the blog and here are the results:

For this photo shoot and collaboration I choose to go with this dress I bought the night before the shoot for 50% on clearance at Old Navy. Because the dress was a bit tight and smug on me I wish I had shopped for a vest to go over it (we are our worst critics though) and the leggings were needed as the length of the dress was a bit short on me but for the price of the dress I was glad to make do and make it work for the photos that day.
I added a thrifted gold accent necklace and some golden bangles to give the outfit more personality and festive feel. I couldn’t decide on shoes that would do with the dress so I went with my leopard print shoes as leopard goes with everything.
So far I know this look would be perfect for holiday dinners and church events coming up and so I couldn’t wait to show it to you before hand. Check out below how I have also styled this dress and enter a Christmas wear challenge.

Outfit details-Dress: Old Navy (clearance)//Leggings (Old Navy)//Flats: via Plato’s Closet//Necklace: thrifted//Bracelets: Charlotte Russe// Lipstick: Maybelline//Nail Polish: Rimmel London, Red, Set, Go…

How else have I styled this dress: As a shirt, with a skirt.
It wasn’t until recently that I found a lovely white faux fur vest and so I have recently styled this same dress as a shirt under a skirt with a faux fur vest that you can see in this post here and by the photos below:

Sometimes I like to remix my closet and make more with what I have.

What about you? What will you be wearing this holiday season?

***The Winner of the $25 Target Giftcard and $25 Groopdealz Giftcard and more is Jessica W. Congratulations! Teressa should have e-mailed you to claim your prize*****

Style Collaboration: Mustard Cardigan Styled 2 Ways, 2 Bloggers

Today, I am happy to share with you my first style collaboration with my lovely blogging friend Amber. I have known Amber for almost half a year or more and she has been featured on the blog before (here). But months ago she got a good deal on a mustard colored cardigan from Target and when she started wearing it on the blog, I fell in love and couldn’t wait to get my hands on one myself.  Black Friday weekend rolled around and it became the perfect opportunity to buy it. At Target it was $19.99 and the sale on it was 40% off so I scored this for $11.99 and had a gift card that covered it and another item. This girl was happy let me tell you!

I can’t get over how versatile and nice the cardigan is for fall, winter and early spring weather. I will definitely get a lot of use out of this cardigan. In todays post I styled it over a striped black and white maxi dress, the weather that Sunday was very nice but windy, so the added cardigan was a life saver against the cold gusts of wind.
DSC01887I liked the cognac in my favorite Michael Kors purse against the outfit.
DSC01898 DSC01903
I have been in a pattern mixing mood lately, and since leopard is a neutral and goes with EVERYTHING I included my leopard print shoes with this dress and cardigan for a nice comfortable casual fit to church.

Outfit details- Cardigan (Target $19.99)//Maxi Dress: (Charlotte Russe, on clearance for $3.99)//Necklace:Designs By Stacy Lee // Flats: (via Plato’s Closet)//Purse: Michael Kors (wedding gift).

Now on to Amber’s look and how she styled hers in her own words and more about her blog and a link to this outfit.

About my blog: I blog about my personal style and affordable pieces. I love writing about fashion on a budget and how I put my outfits together.
About my outfit: This outfit was perfect for a casual weekend morning. This mustard cardigan is such a stylish color, and even makes a messy topknot look chic. Plus we are all loving leopard this season, right? So I’m carrying my favorite leopard purse again in this outfit.

You can find more on this outfit styled by Amber here.

Thank you Amber for taking the time to do this style collaboration with me.
I would love for you to come back Monday, December 15 for another style collaboration I have with 2 other lovely fashion bloggers I just love and adore. If you are reading this and interested in doing a future style collaboration with me than just shoot me an e-mail (you can find it in the contact page) I have one planned for spring weather already with another blogger so I am up for future suggestions.
