Style Collaboration: Fedora Hat and Leather Cuff bracelet + GIVEAWAY

fedorastylecollacollage1
Happy Monday! I am excited to be collaborating again with blogger and new blogging friend Grace of Colorandgrace.com on how we styled our white fedora hats and leather cuff bracelets.

I love how Grace incorporated her white fedora and leather cuff with spring colors and florals. Her look is polished enough for wearing to work but fun enough to wear out and about perhaps on a fun lunch date or shopping date. I just love how Grace incorporated other bracelets from charmed bracelets to other cuffed bracelets (from My Arm Charms) with her leather cuff.  Grace has styled her fedora and leather cuff in other ways as well but you will just have to check those out on her blog here.

I choose to style my white fedora with a striped black and white dress I got on super clearance back on Black Friday along with black flats and cardigan. My “Rock Star” blue leather cuff bracelet from My Arm Charms was added to the outfit along with a long chained necklace with bead hints in the same blue color. I wanted a casual look that day but something fun enough to wear to a baby shower which I attended that day in this outfit.

IMG_0216A baby shower was not the only shower happening that day. Rain showers and rain dances occurred towards the end of this photo shoot.

Today in celebration of this style collaboration with Grace, I have partnered up with My Arm Charms and Grace to giveaway this same blue leather “Rock Star” cuff you see gracing my arm today. I just love this cuff for it’s color and added charm. At first I thought the cuff wouldn’t fit my style but I was charmed other wise, it is just too cute. It snaps by snaps around the wrist and feels so comfortable. If you can’t wait to see if you won this bracelet (which is $14.99) then I encourage you to sign up for My Arm Charms e-mails so that you can receive offers, discounts and sometimes monthly giveaway news. When you subscribe to the e-mailing list you also receive $10 off a order subtotal of $30 minimum with a code. Now you can’t beat that and ALL the bracelets and watches are affordable. This giveaway is open until midnight March 30 and is open to participants with a US mailing address only. The more entries you complete the more points you will be able to receive. Please enter in the rafflecopter box below. Thank you and Goodluck!!!

Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders (+ GIVEAWAY)

It is hard to believe the holiday Christmas is over with, however our celebration of Christ is not. How was your Christmas? I will be honest I had a lot of great moments with family, and I got a lot of needed things though, so that is nice. Visit my instagram here to see some of my favorite holiday moments.

Today’s outfit is just my favorite so far. I recently got this poncho from White Plum boutique with a gift card and did not pay shipping- so I got this baby for free. SCORE! (exact poncho for purchase here). I just LOVE the sweater feel of it, and the fact that it has sweater sleeves is an extra bonus so a long sleeve shirt to wear underneath is not required like most ponchos.

poncho1

The leggings were a Christmas gift from my mother-in-law from Kohls and although they are nice they kept riding down, so I kept having to pull the leggings back up- very annoying!

DSC02044

I have seriously worn this poncho twice now, and I can’t wait to find other ways to style it in the near future.

Outfit details: Poncho (White Plum (exact here)//Necklace: Redeemed Jewelry (exact here)//Leggings: Kohls ($16.00, gift)//Boots: Belk ($90, got for $20)//Earrings: thrifted gift.

The necklace you see on me contains some of the lyrics to one of my favorite songs called Oceans by the worship band Hillsong. (If you haven’t heard this amazing song I have found the lyrics here for you to read). The necklace was part of a giveaway with Carrie and Sherri and the shop that makes the necklace is called Redeemed Jewelry. (shop exact one here). This shop sells cute necklaces with messages of hope, worship song lyrics, scripture and images. I am obsessed with how lovely it is, and it came with an arrow and anchor charm. I just love jewelry that involves a story behind it or a biblical truth such as this pendant here. When I wear this necklace (worn 3 times now) and feel discouraged I just look at it and am reminded to just trust God, with my feelings, day, situations and future.

What about you, do you have a favorite article of clothing or accessory that just speaks to you or reminds you of some dear things in life? Leave me a comment and let me know, I would love to hear about yours.

*Also today starting at 7amCST and thru 12/31 12am CST a few bloggers and myself are having a $100 Starbucks instagram loop giveaway that you won’t want to miss. Just go here on my instagram to enter- must follow the rules to be eligible to win. Goodluck!

Nothing on Clark Kent and Velma

DSC01995
I normally have a hard time coming up with the first few sentences and introduction to my blog (fact!). Sometimes the title is the challenging part, but today all I can think about is Clark Kent and Velma. You must be asking yourself why? and maybe its because these two icons are not only awesome, smart and dorky but wear glasses, and I just adore them as icons.
Nothing on Clark Kent and Velma, but today, you are getting your first glimpse of me in glasses here on the blog. Fact, I am near sighted but cannot, I repeat CANNOT see ANYTHING but blurred visions far away, so I normally wear prescription glasses. A few months ago I made a visit to my eye doctor and purchased not only some contacts (which I normally wear) but some glasses, and I actually like them and learned a bit about how face and eye shape can either make or break the way glasses will look on you, so at that appointment I was careful to select squared shaped ones, with the help of the sales attendant. I came away with some nice ones.
A few weeks ago I was contacted by a Global Online optical store called Firmoo.com to select a pair of glasses to review. Taking my knowledge from my appointment a few months back I carefully selected the ones that you see pictured on me.
DSC01989

DSC01991

I choose this pair here because I wanted something dark with some brown tones to go with my hair color, and I liked how the shape was similar to my previous bought glasses. On the Firmoo.com site there were options to select and enter prescription numbers and PD (pupil distance) numbers for a more accurate lenses clarity. I was lucky to get the prescription numbers from my doctors office but could not get the PD from them so instead I had to have my hubby take a mm ruler and measure this. To measure the PD my hubby had me look straight ahead, and taking the mm ruler to the bridge of my nose he measured the pupil (black dot part of the eye) of my left eye to the right pupil. He must have taken 5 to 6 measurements to be sure it was accurate for me to record on the website before ordering my glasses. Once measurements and prescription was in on the site my glasses were ordered and check this- sent to me within less than a week.
DSC01987

I was highly satisfied with my glasses when they came in. These glasses came in faster than my doctors office glasses (which needed to be specifically ordered and shipped to my doctors office, and took almost 2 weeks) so that says a lot about how I feel about Firmoo’s quick shipment. The glasses prescription is perfect and aligned with what I needed. Not only that but they are cute, different in style from my other pair and just wonderful in power.

DSC02005

I choose to style my glasses with a oversize sweater, and distressed flared jeans for a look of comfort.
DSC02003
The sweater is actually my hubbies, and let me tell you it was all I needed on a cold day like the other day as it was warm enough against the cold winter air to make me feel like I was curled up near the fireplace with a hot cup of coffee. Not only was it so warm (no coat needed) but I felt great in it. My hubby actually thought I looked sexy in his shirt, which is a GREAT thing too.

DSC01996

I had the pleasure of wearing this outfit and glasses out to see the movie “The Hobbit” in theaters with my hubby, and walk around his college campus where these pictures were taken.
DSC01997
DSC02004

Besides our date and the glasses there were many more goodies that came in with my glasses, such as a glasses case, drawstring bag for the case, glassed repair kit with screws and cleaning cloth. I didn’t receive this luxury with my glasses from the eye doctors.

DSC02010
DSC02012

While I might have a hard time coming up with a great catchy blog introduction, I might add that I can end with saying that I am highly satisfied with the service and my glasses from Firmoo.com, my hubbies sweater and our date. Nothing on Clark Kent and Velma here.

Do you wear glasses? What shaped glasses do you wear or would like to try? Avaitar? Round? Firmoo.com has a selection and shapes for everyone.

Outfit Details: Glasses (c/o Firmoo.com)//Sweater: hubbies from Old Navy// Pants: gift from a friend//Boots:Kensie Wear (gift)//Necklace: old, gift.

*This post is a sponsored post/collaboration post. I was given a free pair of prescription glasses in exchange for a review. All opinions expressed are 100% my own.

A for effort

It feels sooooo good to be able to post an outfit post again. I am sorry I haven’t been showing off a bit 😉 No really though life has just been busy, the babies have been sick, I guest co-hosted an Intentional Parenting link up with host Keri (read my posts here, here and here on how I was parenting intentionally) and participated in a ABC Scripture cards giveaway along with that (winner is Britt F.CONGRATULATIONS!)

DSC01531

The hubby and I had a date day on Saturday this past weekend eating locally and thrift shopping (Goodwill and Plato’s Closet, but we scored our actual buys at Plato’s Closet). I bought my leopard print flats there (Plato’s Closet) about a month ago and then scored the grey sweater tunic you see over the striped shirt on the clearance rack for $5 and even better- it is a Michael Michael Kors! YES NO FREAKIN WAY! If you have followed me for awhile you know MK is my favorite brand/designer. But I happened to pick this lovely tunic for how cute it was and didn’t know it was a MK till I tried it on and fell in love. The weather was just chilly enough to wear the sweater on top of my already worn grey and white striped shirt. Everything else I wore just brought it all together, and do you notice my mix of prints (striped, crazy scarf designs and leopard?) I just loved it.

DSC01533

Now for the reason of my post title if you have or haven’t been wondering. A for effort….well my hubby hurt his elbow pretty bad the night before (Friday) and so he had been in pain and on pain meds for most of Friday night and Saturday so before he took these photos he accidently hit that same elbow on the van doorway as he was getting out of the van at our house, as he was cringing and sounding out in pain he took the camera and shot what he could of me in these poses knowing that I had asked him all day to outfit shoot me and it was getting dark outside. So in his pain he was a sweetheart and showed me that he loved me, by getting these shots. YEP an A for effort baby!

Also these Kendra Scott earrings you see on me have another story on their own. I actually lost one of them this past week and called the optometrists office a few times, searched in an out of my van and in my yard and finally prayed about it and felt I needed to go back to the doctors office and search and lo and behold it was in the grass near the parking lot-God is good and A for effort on my part (and God’s of course).

How have you been? What things have you or should you receive an A on effort for?

Outfit details: Striped shirt: Merona (gift)//Tunic Sweater: Michael Michael Kors ($5 Platos Closet)//Scarf:gift//Pants:DKNY Jeans (old)//Flats:Plato’s Closet//Purse: Merona (old from Target)//Earrings:Kendra Scott (gift)

Hey there, happy hump day to you! To the lovers out there of elephants, fringe and bohemian this post is for you as it contains just that.
DSC01252
This tee is a must-have for your closet as not only is the design on the front of a cool geometric pattern but the fringe and large fit make me feel like I am wearing a light weight blanket or pajama top. I also like the bohemian style to this outfit (well, kind of). I actually daydreamed of pairing this top with a grey or dark maxi skirt and booties but sigh I don’t own a maxi skirt/dress in those colors, heck I don’t even own a maxi skirt.

DSC01254
I wore this outfit on Sunday to church and to several meetings throughout the day and couldn’t be more comfortable. I feel a bit late on the patriotic colors to (July 4th revisited) but July is almost over ahhh!

DSC01257
This little treasure was a recent purchase from dxmall.com (along with the tee I am wearing) and I still can’t believe how adorable it is. (Last day to enter my dxmall.com giftcard(s) giveaway- 3 people will win $50, $40 &$30 to their online store, open internationally- see details and enter below).

These elephant wood carved earrings were a bridesmaid gift from one of my best friends who got them somewhere near or in Morraco. I have had these for two years and still love and wear them often.

It has been awhile since I posted an outfit post, and for many reasons. Number one I feel like I have nothing when I look in my closet. In fact, Amy Ann of the Real Arnolds feels the same way, check her thoughts out here on budgeting and outfit posts. What I mean is that I don’t own anything really trendy or new. A lot of my clothing is thrifted, from a clothing swap with a buddy, donated or by winning chance through giveaways. My hubby  has worked hard and a lot of overtime and for the past few years and we just haven’t had the budget to be buying NEW clothes as often as we would like, so we wear things over and over till holes or tears turn up.

Number two, I feel like I wear the same jeans, dresses or shirts.

Number three, there is more to life than clothes and what we wear. There are the people around us and other things to be passionate about. For me it’s God and my kids, and our daily activities. I am sorry if weeks ago I went through a outfit post frenzy but as you can see lately I have desired to feature more bloggers, meet new ladies, post about the kids or projects going on. This doesn’t mean I will end outfit posts but it doesn’t need to be my focus on this blog every single time I post.

DSC01232

DSC01234

DSC01233 DSC01235

This outfit here is no exception. Here you see the DKNY jeans that I always wear (these jeans are almost 7 years old, bought on clearance at TJ Maxx) paired with a tee that I won from a giveaway from 65 MCMLXV (isn’t it cute!) The lovely statement necklace was free with a giftcard from dxmall.com that I won from a giveaway (see my 3 winner dxmall.com giftcard giveaway going on now at the end of this post to enter to win $50, $40 or $30). The flats were bought on clearance from Target with a giftcard I had from Christmas, the sunglasses are thrifted along with the other spiked necklace and earrings. The only new item here is my Michael Kors handbag, bought from money my hubby saved for my birthday.

Whew! that was a lot to let out and be honest with you about. My hubby told me on Friday (when I wore this) that he liked it when I dressed up and wore some jewelry, straightened my hair, wore make-up. But as you see here I didn’t have to spend but a few bucks for the whole outfit.

Lastly, The last thing I want people to think when they read this blog is that I have a lot of extra money floating around to get whatever. I don’t.

To end on a great note (other than the giveaway you can enter) I had a great weekend with my hubby and so look to viewing that post tomorrow (or shortly) about what we did in celebrating our 4 year anniversary.

Thanks for reading!

Life's A Party Dress Like It

Friday Frills

Polka Dot Shorts

DSC01216
I cannot believe our family vacation has come to an end. For 7 days we did nothing but swim in the resort pools, take a day to go to the resort water park and take much needed naps almost daily. One of the things I enjoyed most of all was my two date nights with hubby, family, our company of friends and sister and her boyfriend- as well as these shorts.
Since I can remember I have loved doing a bit of shopping when going out of town. I hit up a few stores (rue 21,Old Navy) but wasn’t finding anything with my short shopping savings of $6, yes $6 of my leftover Birthday money. What I was finding was pieces that didn’t quite fit my body or were rather sqanky/revealing so I hit up Target. Now you can never go wrong with Target, so when I saw these polka dot shorts in the 70% off clearance section and saw that they were exactly $6 I had to try them on and voila they fit perfectly. I also remembered seeing other bloggers style these exact shorts some weeks/months ago so I felt proud, nbw to try and find some inspiration.

DSC01215
I felt like I was on vacation again when I wore this outfit. I actually wore this to church (I taught preschoolers and needed to feel and be comfortable, yet casual) then my hubby and I went on a date. We ended up playing Frisbee golf, taking a walk, picking and eating raspberry’s and black berries, visiting my new baby nephew Isaak in the hospital and sipping ice coffee’s in our local Mill Mountain coffee shop. It was the perfect time to reconnect.

We have actually felt convicted lately about not holding hands and talking (especially in the vehicle like we use to) we have allowed our smartphones (his game and my bloglovin app) get the better of us. Communication has been down, therefore we felt down, but God reminded us to put away the electronics and talk, hold hands, talk with the kids, listen to the message on the Christian aired radio- to slow down and just be intentional with each other and with things around.

DSC01218
DSC01222
Aside from the cute shorts, vacation fun and being intentional let me tell you about this jewelry set. It is making it’s first appearance after having owned it for months. Would you believe my grandmother-in-law thrifted them in a bag at Goodwill for 10 cents, craz-i-ness. I love them. God is good!

What are some of your great sale finds or thrifted finds?

How are you being intentional?
Photo bomb, but cute nonetheless.

I have also worn this fedora here, and here.
