Borrowing from my sister

DSC02109I may have mentioned in the past that I love to borrow my sister Annalises’ clothes (well I actually mean accessories). Here is one of those times. The scarf, cardigan and boots are hers, but she allowed me to borrow them for a day of shopping with her. DSC02108
DSC02114
DSC02118Actually the scarf was given back per her request, boots are STILL in my possession and worn often and the cardigan was given to me, SCORE!  I am so grateful for my sister Annalise (well all 3 of my sisters, see post here on all 3 of them) but it is just fun to share my passion for fashion with my lovely sister(s).

Outfit details: Scarf: Charlotte Russe (borrowed)//Cardigan: unknown//White tee: JC Penny//Leggings: Old Navy//Ankle Boots: Simply Vera Vera Wang//Bracletts: Charlotte Russe//Nail Polish: ULTA.

Oh and before I go for the day I want to show off my best that could be done with curly hair fishtail braid that Annalise happened to do. My first one and so lovely, even with the flyaways.

What or who do you borrow items from?
Thanks for reading ladies,

Kimono in winter + new favorite boots

Today is a special day as it is our Nevaeh’s birthday today. She is 6! Wow how the time has flown by. To celebrate we will have a small party for her at McDonalds with friends and family on Sunday, so look forward to some pictures next week here on the blog or  Instagram. Love you Nevaeh!

Thank you so much to everyone who left me encouraging comments or thoughts in the last post and link up (you can read more on why and or link up your recent blog post here), as these were much appreciated. I really have missed you all.

Let’s talk about these ankle boots, goodness how I love them and would you believe they are Dansko’s? When I think of Dansko’s shoes I think back to the days of teaching where every teacher in the school I taught at had a pair, or you think of doctors and nurses wearing them and generally I have never been much of a fan of the look of them but knew of their comfort. I didn’t even know Dansko made boots, but a few weeks ago my mother in law generously gave them to me. It was love at first site, and they fit my feet like the slipper must have fit Cinderella-perfect! These shoes are so comfortable too.
This past weekend was so nice as the weather was warming up into the 60’s and then Monday and Tuesday the cold front hit back in and wham out came the boots, leggings (jeans or whatever) and long sleeves again.
DSC02270
But it gave me the excuse to style this Kimono for the winter weather and I actually liked it. I had not worn this Kimono since early fall or late summer (see how I styled it then here).
DSC02272
The added touch was this H&M cross necklace I bought a few months back.
DSC02280
Speaking of H&M tomorrow (Friday) I will be one of many other bloggers doing an H&M gift card giveaway that you won’t want to miss. I hope you can come by and join in.
Until then how do you style Kimono’s for the winter weather?

Outfit Details: Kimono: The Mint Julep Boutique (sold out)// Necklace: H&M//Boots: Dansko’s (gift)//Long Sleeve tee: Merona (via Target)//Leggings: Old Navy.

It is hard to believe the holiday Christmas is over with, however our celebration of Christ is not. How was your Christmas? I will be honest I had a lot of great moments with family, and I got a lot of needed things though, so that is nice. Visit my instagram here to see some of my favorite holiday moments.

Today’s outfit is just my favorite so far. I recently got this poncho from White Plum boutique with a gift card and did not pay shipping- so I got this baby for free. SCORE! (exact poncho for purchase here). I just LOVE the sweater feel of it, and the fact that it has sweater sleeves is an extra bonus so a long sleeve shirt to wear underneath is not required like most ponchos.

The leggings were a Christmas gift from my mother-in-law from Kohls and although they are nice they kept riding down, so I kept having to pull the leggings back up- very annoying!

DSC02044

I have seriously worn this poncho twice now, and I can’t wait to find other ways to style it in the near future.

Outfit details: Poncho (White Plum (exact here)//Necklace: Redeemed Jewelry (exact here)//Leggings: Kohls ($16.00, gift)//Boots: Belk ($90, got for $20)//Earrings: thrifted gift.

The necklace you see on me contains some of the lyrics to one of my favorite songs called Oceans by the worship band Hillsong. (If you haven’t heard this amazing song I have found the lyrics here for you to read). The necklace was part of a giveaway with Carrie and Sherri and the shop that makes the necklace is called Redeemed Jewelry. (shop exact one here). This shop sells cute necklaces with messages of hope, worship song lyrics, scripture and images. I am obsessed with how lovely it is, and it came with an arrow and anchor charm. I just love jewelry that involves a story behind it or a biblical truth such as this pendant here. When I wear this necklace (worn 3 times now) and feel discouraged I just look at it and am reminded to just trust God, with my feelings, day, situations and future.

What about you, do you have a favorite article of clothing or accessory that just speaks to you or reminds you of some dear things in life? Leave me a comment and let me know, I would love to hear about yours.

*Also today starting at 7amCST and thru 12/31 12am CST a few bloggers and myself are having a $100 Starbucks instagram loop giveaway that you won’t want to miss. Just go here on my instagram to enter- must follow the rules to be eligible to win. Goodluck!

Apple Butter making & Giveaway

DSC01834
Each year my hubby and the kids and I attend an annual “Apple Butter making day” where my husbands family members- uncles, aunts, cousins, parents, grandparents and other extended family members and friends get together to make homemade country apple butter- big pot, cut up apples, cinnamon and all. It doesn’t get more southern than that. We went this past Saturday and had a blast minus the cold weather out.

Hot homemade apple cider while sitting in a barn with hay and kids playing everywhere was nice as well.

My hubby thinks it’s..

Sexy! My hubby is referring to the look you see in this post. I wore this to church Sunday and felt a bit awkward in it as I felt it may have put out a provocative vibe, but my hubby assured me that it looked too classy at the same time to give off some naughty vibes. It turned out to be the perfect look for a indoor cookout after church.

Lately, I have been showing you seasonal transition wardrobe pieces, from last post here to todays. It has been raining here forever, so wearing a mixture of summery and cooler weather clothes has been on my mind. If I had been smart enough I should have planned a link up or something on this, but life is crazy for now. Maybe, in the future. What are your thoughts? Anyone else doing a link up like that now that you know of?

DSC01298

DSC01303

As far as my Monday has gone, we ended up not going on the college tour (for my hubby, read post here) because of the rain. Elizabeth has had a fever and been fussy for most of the day so my mom was gracious enough to watch the other kids while I took Elizabeth to the doctor. It turned out to just be a cold, there were no signs of ear ache or sore throat like we thought. My mom paid for my meal at a local restaurant called McAlisters (kids eat free on Mondays) and in general it was nice to spend time with her.

Outfit details: Dress: Michael Michael Kors (old, MK outlet store)//Boots: Kensie (thrifted, gift)//Purse: Michael Kors, Hamilton bag (wedding gift from NY)//Belt: Michael Michael Kors (came with the dress)//Brown stone pendant necklace (vintage Sarah Covington)//Silver & Gold plated necklace: Lia Sophia (gift).

Also thanks to everyone who entered the $60 Target giftcard giveaway. The winner is Jodi Weismann! (Jodi, Keri should have contacted you by e-mail). To all the entrants I plan on hosting or co-hosting more giveaways in the future, so stick around. I have enjoyed getting to know a few new followers on instagram (here). If you have a small or even big business and want to promote your product through giveaways or for my review see my sponsor/collaborate page here and I would be happy to work with you.

Thanks for reading!
