Bloggers Who Have Inspired Me

Happy St. Patricks day (are you wearing green? NO pinching here!) and welcome to “Bloggers Who Have Inspired Me” link up. A place where women (or men) come to link up any recent post they want to share (and perhaps have featured next Tuesday). I can’t tell you how awesome it is to read your link ups each week and just get excited for what you are learning, wearing or doing as each of you inspire me to consider all kinds of things and new ideas so thank you very much! Give yourselves a pat on each side of your back, or better yet go to a spa and get a massage or get someone near by to give you one, get a favorite snack or drink and sit back and hopefully gain some inspiration, all the while linking up some of yours below.
This weeks featured five ladies that linked up last week are:
bloggerswhohave10
Jessica of @blessherheartyall.com linked up a lovely watermelon colored portofino top and floral fun heels for a welcoming of spring weather. Her heels are just gorgeous, check them out and the post here.
Rachel of @rachelthehat.com linked up a spring styled outfit that I am seriously inspired to tryout for my own as I just adore all of her items of clothing (as seen in the picture above) and check out those BEAUTIFUL pumps (I am IN LOVE with anything cobalt blue) so of course these are my favorite part of her outfit. You can check out Rachel’s new loves here.
bloggerswhohave11
Alena of @garmentsspeech.blogspot.com wears a lovely layered amount of purple and fun mixing textures and prints that I just love. You can view the whole look here.
Cynthia of @myrosecoloredshades linked up a beautiful post on how God used a man of God to save orphans and how this act (or documentary that she recently saw) moved her spirit and showed her just how much God loves us. Read this inspiring post here for more.

Passion and Bloggers Who Have Inspired Me link up

Like I mentioned yesterday (see post here) the past week and even weekend have been super busy. My hubby was on spring break last week with school and while I still posted I have been neglecting blogging or visiting other blogs. While this little space isn’t a job let’s be honest with ourselves and just say that at times it can seem like one (especially if you have affiliate links, sponsors, collaborations or a weekly link-up). When you are passionate about something it can take a lot out of you at the same time, like a dancer with dance practice or an aspiring cook to perfect the perfect dish- that has been what this blog has been lately. I love knowing that feeling and being passionate about blogging but there comes a point where if blogging can’t be done it throws everything off kilter (at least for me).  Tonight my hubby suggested I put our 2 in a half year old son to bed, that I shower and I go to bed early (since I have had little sleep) and I gave him the mean look and “oh no you didn’t look” over the phones facetime camera (since he works in the evenings). I feel bad that I did that but I am passionate about this link up and didn’t want to NOT have it open for reading your links or allowing you to link up so without further adieu here are last weeks featured five and the link up for today.

bloggerswhohave8
Shauna of @lipglossandlace.net linked up a lovely fringe and flare outfit that I just couldn’t keep my eyes off of, see the look here.
Denise of @fashionloveletters.com linked up a lovely distressed jeans, and shoulder cut off tee that seemed to be so appropriate for spring transition (despite the snow in the background) and I just found the whole outfit cute and inspiring to try sometime. See the post here.
bloggerswhohave9

Tea of @whatmamawear.blogspot.ca
linked up a casual ladies night out outfit. I loved that Tea and I have similar taste in style (both are moms) so flats (especially leopard print ones) are definitely a bonus or staple for even a girls night out for us both it seems. You can read about what she did for her ladies night out and view her outfit here.

Melissa of @missyg.com linked up a recent review of a Thalia For Macy’s launch party that she participated in and shared on. I was excited for Melissa’s outlook on this new line of clothing at Macys and had to share it with you. Check out some of her favorite pieces and review here.
Chicken Dip
Jill of @dousedinpink.blogspot.com linked up several quick and easy recipes for in home entertaining (especially for her and some friends to eat while enjoying the past recent Oscars) and this chicken cheddar dip looked heavenly enough that I knew I had to try it. You can view this recipe and others for a party here.
Now it is your turn, just follow the link up rules below:

Bloggers Who Have Inspired Me #15 Link

Hello and welcome to the 15th link up for Bloggers Who Have Inspired Me. I want to thank the numerous new and come back bloggers who linked up last week, there were so many awesome and inspiring posts that it was hard to choose my favorite 5 to feature today. I hope you will enjoy those featured today and meet some other lovely ladies linked up. I wanted to also report that this will be the last link up of 2014. You can still link up and come back next Tuesday to see my featured 5 ladies but I just won’t have a link up widget up next Tuesday. I want you to be able to enjoy the Holidays and New Years coming. As I mentioned in this post here I will be taking a break for most of the month of January but will resume blogging again in either late or early February. I can’t wait to read what you link up today!

Here are my favorites from last weeks link up-

DIY/Fashion:

1416789054447

Heather of @thriftstories.me linked up a very intriguing post on how she thrifted her sweatshirt and then created the gems design on it. Her idea was to spend less money creating something trendy than spending butt loads of money on something similar sold in the stores. Hop on over to this post here to see how she did. Doesn’t her look just remind you of the 90’s grunge? Hello Claudia, Noami, etc.
Holiday Mason Jar 13
Jill of @dousedinpink.blogspot.com linked up an adorable DIY holiday décor project under the cost of $5. She created these adorable mason jar holiday scenes décor that I think you will enjoy trying for yourself, I know I will. You can check out what she did and materials here.

Fashion:

Hannah of @sweeterthanserenity.blogspot.com linked up a beautiful holiday dress that I think is just stunning for those already here or coming holiday events, plus who doesn’t want to party unless in some glam and sparkle. You can view the entire outfit post here.

groop3
Leanne of @classyyettrendy.com linked up a fun Aztec printed cardigan and boots combo that I just loved. I have been looking into getting ankle booties in this same color so of course her look inspired me with just one of the many ways to style my future tan or camel colored booties. I also like how she added a dresser look to her outfit with the lovely statement necklace.  You can view her post here.

Leggs
Ashley of @fabellis.com linked up a nice review of her new L’egg pantyhose and I reminisced to my younger days where these were THE PANTYHOSE in my families household so I believe in them. I don’t wear pantyhose much anymore (I am a leggings girl what can I say) but I just though Ashley looked lovely as she made a summery look go fall/pre-winter with just the touch of ankle booties and long sleeved shirt. You can view her review and post here.

**Before you start linking up I want to acknowledge Ariana W, as the winner of my 1 year blogiversary, 500 plus instagram follower giveaway last Tuesday. She won a $10 Starbucks giftcard, bracelets and homemade apple butter.  Thank you to all who entered. I will be participating in a loop giveaway on Instagram a few days after Christmas and a few more after my blogging break.

Now the rules and link up:

Style Collaboration: Mustard Cardigan Styled 2 Ways, 2 Bloggers

mustardcardigancollage
Today, I am happy to share with you my first style collaboration with my lovely blogging friend Amber. I have known Amber for almost half a year or more and she has been featured on the blog before (here). But months ago she got a good deal on a mustard colored cardigan from Target and when she started wearing it on the blog, I fell in love and couldn’t wait to get my hands on one myself.  Black Friday weekend rolled around and it became the perfect opportunity to buy it. At Target it was $19.99 and the sale on it was 40% off so I scored this for $11.99 and had a gift card that covered it and another item. This girl was happy let me tell you!

DSC01889
I can’t get over how versatile and nice the cardigan is for fall, winter and early spring weather. I will definitely get a lot of use out of this cardigan. In todays post I styled it over a striped black and white maxi dress, the weather that Sunday was very nice but windy, so the added cardigan was a life saver against the cold gusts of wind.
DSC01887I liked the cognac in my favorite Michael Kors purse against the outfit.
DSC01898 DSC01903
I have been in a pattern mixing mood lately, and since leopard is a neutral and goes with EVERYTHING I included my leopard print shoes with this dress and cardigan for a nice comfortable casual fit to church.

Outfit details- Cardigan (Target $19.99)//Maxi Dress: (Charlotte Russe, on clearance for $3.99)//Necklace:Designs By Stacy Lee // Flats: (via Plato’s Closet)//Purse: Michael Kors (wedding gift).

Now on to Amber’s look and how she styled hers in her own words and more about her blog and a link to this outfit.

About my blog: I blog about my personal style and affordable pieces. I love writing about fashion on a budget and how I put my outfits together.
About my outfit: This outfit was perfect for a casual weekend morning. This mustard cardigan is such a stylish color, and even makes a messy topknot look chic. Plus we are all loving leopard this season, right? So I’m carrying my favorite leopard purse again in this outfit.

You can find more on this outfit styled by Amber here.

Thank you Amber for taking the time to do this style collaboration with me.
I would love for you to come back Monday, December 15 for another style collaboration I have with 2 other lovely fashion bloggers I just love and adore. If you are reading this and interested in doing a future style collaboration with me than just shoot me an e-mail (you can find it in the contact page) I have one planned for spring weather already with another blogger so I am up for future suggestions.

Featured Blogger Moment: Keri

Today I am thrilled to introduce to you a blogger named Keri whom I just consider such an uplifting, encouraging and mentoring partner in the blogging world. Whenever I seem to go through some personal issues or struggles as a mom sometimes her posts just encourage me and seem to be what God wanted me to read and know in that moment when I know I have needed guidance or Him the most. Keri also blogs about children’s theme lesson plans and crafts to all things family orientated. I am just excited for what she is going to share with you today. Without further adieu here is Keri.</p

Hello, my name is Keri and I share over at Living In This Season. I was so excited when Rachel asked me to share a little with you all. It has been such a joy meeting Rachel and getting to know her more.
I am the wife to my husband of 9 years and mama to 3 little ones, ages 5, 2, and 5 months. Blogging is a way that I can share with others as we each go through different seasons of life. When we all are encouraging and uplifting one another, life’s trials can be lightened.
family5
1). For anyone that happens upon your blog what do you hope they take away from it? What encouragement would you give?
I hope and pray they will leave encouraged and excited about life. Trust me when I say, my life is not all cute kid’s crafts and organized spaces. Life is messy, friends, isn’t it? The unexpected happens… things do not always go as we plan. I hope my readers leave knowing that they are not alone and perhaps inspired… whether that be to go create a project, read with your little one, or go on a date with your husband. So often, we go through the rough seasons of life and think “I am all alone.” But I am here to tell you that you are NOT alone! I recently started a series called A Letter To… which is a place where others will come in and share encouragement about a different season of life. I am hoping and praying this can be a way for us to build community and grow together.
2). As a mother of multiple children how would you describe balancing time with each child? Together? Any suggestions or tips?
Balance… this word is constantly whirling through my mind. One main thing I try to keep in mind is to give myself grace. I could waste all day sitting here thinking how my toddler doesn’t get as much attention now that we have a baby, but you know what that is pointless! He is very much loved and has special moments. One thing we try to do is go on dates with the kids. Our dates are nothing fancy. Sometimes, I will take one of the boys with me to run errands and we will get a special treat. The other boy stays with my husband and baby and he will do a special activity or game with them. Once my daughter is older, we will incorporate this with her too. We are trying to build in a sense of love and family… we are big on having family nights!
3). As a former preschool teacher what are some things you brought from the classroom environment into the home as a stay at home mom? Creativity wise or more?
I love crafts. I am that mom who will be doing a ton of Turkey crafts this November, because I love it! If it stresses you out, that is fine, do something else with your kids. But for me, it is something I love and enjoy to do with my kids. Also, I am a huge fan of having theme weeks. Honestly, we are still figuring out a new routine with my oldest in school and having a baby, but I am working on having simple activities with my toddler throughout the week.
4). Describe your personality in one word and why?
Encouraging. I really have such a desire to encourage others. Whether it is my husband, my kids, my family, friends, through the blogging world. I love to bring a little joy to others’ lives.
5). Could you tell us more about your new etsy shop and why you create what you do?
I have always loved being crafty. Pretty much all of our home decor has been inspired from a Pinterest project. I find myself seeing something in a store and saying why would I buy that? I bet I could figure out how to make this. HAHA! (Which sometimes ends in an epic fail!). But back to the Etsy Shop. Friends and family have been telling me over the years to open one, but I was not sure. It is kind of nerve-wracking stepping out there and promoting your stuff. But I did it, and am loving it! I sell a little bit of a variety (kind of like my blog, just a variety). So far I have holiday banners, birthday banners, baby mobiles, and a thankful tree in the shop. The Thankful Tree has been my biggest seller so far- which I love! I love seeing others inspired to do this activity with their family and helping them to do so.
6). Finally, how can readers be in contact with you?
I love connecting with others and would love to connect. Feel free to contact me at kerisnyder(at)gmail(dot)com or through social media.

Featured Blogger Moment: Becky

Follow on Bloglovin

Today I am thrilled to introduce to you a blogger named Becky that I have known for probably my whole entire blogging experience. I met her through a #funday Monday link-up. The first post I read by her was part of her “Thrifty Finds” series. When I read that she was a mommy, wife, believer in the Lord and teacher, I knew I needed to follow her. I enjoy reading her posts daily, from outfit posts, kids activities and DIY projects. Without further adieu here is Becky.

Thank you so much, Rachel, for inviting me to be a feature blogger on your blog!  I always enjoy reading your posts!  I’m Becky, a wife, momma to two boys (ages 1 and 4), a middle school teacher, blogger, Etsy shop owner, and DIYer. I blog at bybmg about fashion, DIYing, thrifting, and just life.
1). The first post I read from your blog was a “Thrifty Finds”

post. I enjoy reading what you find when you thrift. Could you tell me

what your favorite thrifty find(s) has been and why?

Oh, it was fun taking a trip down memory lane with all my Thrifty Finds posts
Here are my top 3 favorite finds:
These Gap Legging jeans.  They are just my go-to jeans now. I love them! I think I paid under $20, and they retail for about $70.
This Gap dress was seriously the luck of the draw!  It fits me amazingly and has POCKETS!  Plus is was $2.95 after a sign up credit at Twice.  Amazing!
This Loft sequin top was something I probably wouldn’t have bought if it wasn’t at Goodwill, but I love it and have worn in a lot! It’s always fun to have a little sparkle in your closet!
2). What do you like to shop for most when thrifting?
Looking back through  my thrifty finds posts, it seems like I am really drawn toward sleeveless tops; I’m not really sure why. But, I have found some good ones!  I also luck out with jeans, too. Every pair of jeans I currently own are thrifted. Jeans can be expensive, so thrifting them saves a lot of money.
3). Describe your style:
This is something I struggle with because sometimes I have a multiple personalities with my outfits.  I would say maybe classic with a twist of thrift? During the cold months, I’m a boots and tights or boots and skinnies kind of girl. I have totally deleted the boring teacher dress pants from my wardrobe. During the summer, I’m kind of all over the place, but I love a good skirt.
4).I also became interested in your blog because you are a mommy of two, wife and teacher, how do you balance it all?
Being organized really helps me balance things. We plan out meals a week in advance. I have lesson plans at least outlined a week in advance.  Same with my blog.  I don’t always love living life “a week in advance,” but it helps in the day-to-day.  Russ and I share Google calendars, but I also love a good paper list (it feels so good to literally cross things off) and lesson plan book. We’re both starting grad school in the fall, though, so let’s pray it doesn’t all fall apart!
5).You also have some great DIY projects, any favorites?
I think one favorite will always be the post that started my blog, the Glider Rocker Redo. It still gets pinned on Pinterest, so I guess that tells me it was a good one.  I also love it because it’s the foundation on which Wesley’s nursery was designed.
Making the Instagram Frame was pretty fun, too.
6). Describe yourself with one word:
Creative.  My mom will verify that I always have been.  I love to make something out of nothing and figure out how to do it myself.

7). How can readers get in contact with you?:

I’m probably most active on Instagram.  I also have a Facebook page and am on Twitter. You can also always drop me an email!

Don’t forget to enter my dxmall.com giftcard giveaway. Three winners will be choosen. One winner will receive $50, another $40 and another $30 to use towards the dxmall.com site. Open internationally to international readers/entrants.

Today I am thrilled to introduce to you one of my blogging/e-mailing buddies Amber. I admire this woman’s faith, fashion, love for family and job, but also because she represents how women should feel about themselves. I could tell you more but I will let her fill you in on more about herself below. She was kind enough to send me her favorite photos, answers to my questions and links to follow her if you choose to. Without further adieu meet Amber, you won’t be disappointed:

f IMG_8994 - Copy u

Why did you start blogging?

I have always loved girly things, namely fashion, hair and makeup. After my daughter was born, I didn’t want to lose that part of myself – but I wanted to find a way to transition into motherhood stylishly. I felt blogging would be a wonderful outlet for me but was extremely nervous to go for it. After the encouragement of my husband and family I decided to start up my blog to document my style and at the same time, I hoped to inspire other women (especially mommies) to put the best versions of themselves out there!

What has been a challenge so far as a working mom & wife?

Balance! I’m currently inspired by the acronym “JOY” which stands for Jesus, Others, You – meaning prioritizing in this order. I don’t know of any other way that works!

Describe your fashion style?

Wow, that’s a tough question! I’m very feminine and tend to love classic pieces with a few current fun trends. I prefer not to show too much skin at one time. Also, my style seems to be ever evolving so who knows how I would answer this question in the future?

To sum it up, I would probably say a combination of girly + preppy + modern retro + classy chic. (Hope that’s not too much!)

What are your passions in life currently?

Aside from spending quality time with my family, I’m really into my job as a Registered Dental Hygienist. I’m always passionate about helping people to improve their oral health. I pride myself in educating people in how to properly care for their mouth as an individual based on their needs.

In one word describe your personality?

Optimistic.

What do you hope other girls get from life?

What a great question! I hope that girls can first and foremost know that God created all of us as individuals. In our society we are not celebrated as individuals, but are pressured to conform into perfect women. I am guilty of feeling the pressure too. We need to know that because God accepts us for who we are (hello, He made us!), we should do the same.
I want girls to respect themselves, love themselves, take pride in themselves. It may be a life-long process for many of us – but it first starts within our hearts. Accepting Jesus Christ as your Savior is the only way to true peace and happiness, even in the most difficult of times, and the only way to eternal life.
It is absolutely true that beauty is only skin deep, but it is definitely OK to put your best version of yourself out for the world to see – shining and sharing Christ’s love with the world!

Thanks Amber for being real and such a lovely light for God. Thank you also for your time and friendship. One day I hope we meet face to face. You can visit Ambers blog here and/or follow Amber three ways:
