Style Collaboration: Fedora Hat and Leather Cuff bracelet + GIVEAWAY

fedorastylecollacollage1
Happy Monday! I am excited to be collaborating again with blogger and new blogging friend Grace of Colorandgrace.com on how we styled our white fedora hats and leather cuff bracelets.

I love how Grace incorporated her white fedora and leather cuff with spring colors and florals. Her look is polished enough for wearing to work but fun enough to wear out and about perhaps on a fun lunch date or shopping date. I just love how Grace incorporated other bracelets from charmed bracelets to other cuffed bracelets (from My Arm Charms) with her leather cuff.  Grace has styled her fedora and leather cuff in other ways as well but you will just have to check those out on her blog here.

I choose to style my white fedora with a striped black and white dress I got on super clearance back on Black Friday along with black flats and cardigan. My “Rock Star” blue leather cuff bracelet from My Arm Charms was added to the outfit along with a long chained necklace with bead hints in the same blue color. I wanted a casual look that day but something fun enough to wear to a baby shower which I attended that day in this outfit.

IMG_0216A baby shower was not the only shower happening that day. Rain showers and rain dances occurred towards the end of this photo shoot.

Today in celebration of this style collaboration with Grace, I have partnered up with My Arm Charms and Grace to giveaway this same blue leather “Rock Star” cuff you see gracing my arm today. I just love this cuff for it’s color and added charm. At first I thought the cuff wouldn’t fit my style but I was charmed other wise, it is just too cute. It snaps by snaps around the wrist and feels so comfortable. If you can’t wait to see if you won this bracelet (which is $14.99) then I encourage you to sign up for My Arm Charms e-mails so that you can receive offers, discounts and sometimes monthly giveaway news. When you subscribe to the e-mailing list you also receive $10 off a order subtotal of $30 minimum with a code. Now you can’t beat that and ALL the bracelets and watches are affordable. This giveaway is open until midnight March 30 and is open to participants with a US mailing address only. The more entries you complete the more points you will be able to receive. Please enter in the rafflecopter box below. Thank you and Goodluck!!!

Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a good weekend! Ours was extremely busy, like one thing to the next and no stopping. My hubby and I were able to plan a date afternoon through evening of going and looking for furniture. Since my hubby and I met we haven’t bought much furniture (well accept our bedroom set 4 years ago, bookshelf and a few $1 lamps) but we have had people donate furniture to us when they have moved and wanted newer sets or people have just wanted to bless us with second hand or thrifted furniture. We ended up buying everything on a super discount or outlet and this includes  a new sectional couch, 8 bin organizer shelf and 6 chair dining room set. On top of that we had placed an order for carpeting through our house and await the estimate for that job and carpet to go down next month. Then with moving the newer sets in and older sets out and cleaning behind the older sets it has been a process, but we are in LOVE with our new sets and can’t wait to get our carpet in. With all the busy-ness I did get some time in to shop at my favorite stores (Marshalls, Target and TJ Maxx) and scored some much needed items for spring (more of those added items in the near future) as well as this lovely outfit shoot.

I was recently contacted by hands down one of the best women and entrepreneur I have had the pleasure to collaborate with and that is Leslie of My Arm Charms (a bracelet boutique for the fashionista with a hunger for loads of arm candy). I am so excited to work with this boutique and to present to you some lovely arm charms that is not only affordable but chic and what’s better the site (here) has something listed for everyone and every style desired.

IMG_0137
These two bracelets I am wearing here have been worn numerous times since receiving them but my favorite items to wear them with are brown and with this mustard cardigan. These are so versatile that they would go with just about any item you own. The “Gems” bracelet (seen here) is a stretchy gold beaded bracelet that goes on like a glove and sets perfectly without moving up or down the wrist. At first the beads or gold links seemed a bit itchy but I think this was because I am not use to a bracelet with a whole bunch of links and beads to it but there were no link imprints or any further uncomfortableness when worn for hours several days in a row.
The silver bracelet with gold roman numerals is probably a new personal favorite and opens on the side and clamps down shut when placed on. (view here).

IMG_0116

I paired these bracelets with a similar gold toned thin bangle bracelet and a layered necklace in the same metal tones for a fun metal mixing statement.

What are your favorite arm candy pieces? What did you do this past weekend?

Nothing on Clark Kent and Velma

DSC01995
I normally have a hard time coming up with the first few sentences and introduction to my blog (fact!). Sometimes the title is the challenging part, but today all I can think about is Clark Kent and Velma. You must be asking yourself why? and maybe its because these two icons are not only awesome, smart and dorky but wear glasses, and I just adore them as icons.
Nothing on Clark Kent and Velma, but today, you are getting your first glimpse of me in glasses here on the blog. Fact, I am near sighted but cannot, I repeat CANNOT see ANYTHING but blurred visions far away, so I normally wear prescription glasses. A few months ago I made a visit to my eye doctor and purchased not only some contacts (which I normally wear) but some glasses, and I actually like them and learned a bit about how face and eye shape can either make or break the way glasses will look on you, so at that appointment I was careful to select squared shaped ones, with the help of the sales attendant. I came away with some nice ones.
A few weeks ago I was contacted by a Global Online optical store called Firmoo.com to select a pair of glasses to review. Taking my knowledge from my appointment a few months back I carefully selected the ones that you see pictured on me.
DSC01989

DSC01991

I choose this pair here because I wanted something dark with some brown tones to go with my hair color, and I liked how the shape was similar to my previous bought glasses. On the Firmoo.com site there were options to select and enter prescription numbers and PD (pupil distance) numbers for a more accurate lenses clarity. I was lucky to get the prescription numbers from my doctors office but could not get the PD from them so instead I had to have my hubby take a mm ruler and measure this. To measure the PD my hubby had me look straight ahead, and taking the mm ruler to the bridge of my nose he measured the pupil (black dot part of the eye) of my left eye to the right pupil. He must have taken 5 to 6 measurements to be sure it was accurate for me to record on the website before ordering my glasses. Once measurements and prescription was in on the site my glasses were ordered and check this- sent to me within less than a week.
DSC01987

I was highly satisfied with my glasses when they came in. These glasses came in faster than my doctors office glasses (which needed to be specifically ordered and shipped to my doctors office, and took almost 2 weeks) so that says a lot about how I feel about Firmoo’s quick shipment. The glasses prescription is perfect and aligned with what I needed. Not only that but they are cute, different in style from my other pair and just wonderful in power.

DSC02005

I choose to style my glasses with a oversize sweater, and distressed flared jeans for a look of comfort.
DSC02003
The sweater is actually my hubbies, and let me tell you it was all I needed on a cold day like the other day as it was warm enough against the cold winter air to make me feel like I was curled up near the fireplace with a hot cup of coffee. Not only was it so warm (no coat needed) but I felt great in it. My hubby actually thought I looked sexy in his shirt, which is a GREAT thing too.

DSC01996

I had the pleasure of wearing this outfit and glasses out to see the movie “The Hobbit” in theaters with my hubby, and walk around his college campus where these pictures were taken.
DSC01997
DSC02004

Besides our date and the glasses there were many more goodies that came in with my glasses, such as a glasses case, drawstring bag for the case, glassed repair kit with screws and cleaning cloth. I didn’t receive this luxury with my glasses from the eye doctors.

DSC02010
DSC02012

While I might have a hard time coming up with a great catchy blog introduction, I might add that I can end with saying that I am highly satisfied with the service and my glasses from Firmoo.com, my hubbies sweater and our date. Nothing on Clark Kent and Velma here.

Do you wear glasses? What shaped glasses do you wear or would like to try? Avaitar? Round? Firmoo.com has a selection and shapes for everyone.

Outfit Details: Glasses (c/o Firmoo.com)//Sweater: hubbies from Old Navy// Pants: gift from a friend//Boots:Kensie Wear (gift)//Necklace: old, gift.

*This post is a sponsored post/collaboration post. I was given a free pair of prescription glasses in exchange for a review. All opinions expressed are 100% my own.

Fleurty Bands

For a few days now I have had a household of sick toddlers, my boys even had left ear infections and respiratory infections. You can imagine the lack of sleep and the trying to hold everyone as all they wanted was to be held, and held to sleep. Luckily, they seem to be better as of today. Thank you to some of you who knew and for your thoughts and prayers.
With sick babies and the cold front this winter there is little motivation to go anywhere but to the grocery store or to get gas. I have been a homebody for the past week, going out some for appointments and will be headed to Nevaehs gingerbread house party this afternoon with her kindergarten class. When I have gone out though I have donned a comfortable outfit and shoes, hair pulled back and minimal accessories. With the exception of this cute purple chevron head band that is from Jasmine the creator of the etsy shop Fleurty Bands.
DSC01981
DSC01982
I haven’t worn a head band since last spring or early summer and even then I had store bought ones that seemed to slide off often. With Fleurty Bands though they do not slide off, they are made to stay put. The band is held by a hidden elastic, and the shop has so many different designed bands and for different purposes as well, such as for sports/dance, holidays and just for fun. The fleurty band I am wearing today actually came to me via a giveaway that I entered that several people could win all at once and I was one of the lucky along with 4 or 5 other folks. I love how it not only stays put, but looks stylish at the same time, turning a boring up do or down do to something more.

DSC01986
My sister Annalise (who graciously did these photos) is a big fashion guru and sports player and she loved it as well, and didn’t mind styling it with her matching purple sweater, vest combo. She thought it was so cute and this is coming from a fashionista that wears headbands ALL THE FREAKIN TIME, with being into sports and all.
Jasmine of Fleurty Bands is graciously offering 10% off her items to my readers when you use the discount code GARAYTREASURES10 and this discount will be good until 12/31/2014. Many of her bands sell for $7 up, and if you are not into head bands she also sells equally as cute and designed hair ties for $4.50. Below are some of the cutest pieces from her shop that I think you might like and all for $7-perfect for Christmas gifts to others or to yourself.

For a night of shopping I have also worn this lovely band this way:
DSC01915
That’s right with hair down (on a rainy day I might add) and cardigan sweater and leggings. I just love the tiny chevron detail. What about you?

Do you wear head bands? When do you most wear head bands?

*Fleurty Bands provided me with this band via a giveaway and a MAJOR discount code for more items in the store in exchange for this review, but all opinions are 100% mine.

Are you a running or know someone running an etsy shop or small business and want more promotion? I would love to collaborate, you can e-mail me for inquiry or check out my sponsor page here.

Ring in a 5 year wedding anniversary

DSC01930
I love a good festive style outfit around the Christmas season and this one hits the spot and I couldn’t be more thrilled to share it with you. I recently scored this lovely faux fur vest from Target on sale, with a giftcard gifted from Laura of @walkinginmemphisinhighheels.com (thank you hun) and this lovely sweater dress from Old Navy underneath a favorite old Limited skirt. In truth these items are lovely and had been on my wish list for awhile, however I styled the outfit around the beautiful ring you see on my ring finger.
DSC01931

I was honored and VERY excited when Anjolee Jewelry contacted me about wearing and styling one of their rings. My 5 year wedding anniversary is coming up in July and it just so happened they had a selection of anniversary rings for me to pick from and so I went with the Eternity band.
DSC01927
I was excited to receive my ring and of course wear it. Here I am wearing the ring alone but lately I have worn it in between my wedding ring and engagement ring for extra glimmer and elegance.
DSC01922
DSC01926

Anjolee.com features classy jewelry such as diamonds and more. Upon visiting their anniversary rings (or any type of ring for that matter) you will note that you can choose the type of total carat weight, stone shape and setting type. There are options to have a vintage styled ring, classic,
eternity or gems along with diamonds.
DSC01924
DSC01929

With my 5th wedding anniversary coming up this July, the rest of the jewelry you see worn was worn on my wedding day. I thought it only appropriate and special to bring it out to wear with my new eternity band ring and festive outfit for an extra charm.
DSC01921
Lately I have worn the eternity ring in between my wedding band and engagement ring as seen in this photo.

DSC01932
The ring came in a lovely box that I couldn’t pass up showing you:

I don’t know yet what is in store for our 5 year wedding anniversary or what we will do to celebrate, but I know I have the perfect ring to wear and remind me of this special occasion, thank you Anjolee for this gift*.

*This post is a sponsored post from Anjolee.com. A sample ring (with CZs)was sent in exchange for a review along with compensation but all opinions are 100% mine alone.

Today is the last day to enter the giveaway to win a $25 gift card to Target, $25 gift card to Groopdealz.com and more. Enter the link below and goodluck!

Tour through blog land

Follow on Bloglovin

I am honored that Becky of bybmg blog has recently nominated me for a participation in the new “Tour Through Blog Land” you may have been reading or hearing about. I love Becky, we have become blogging buddies and her blog is probably one of the first blogs I read daily. I love getting outfit style inspirations from her, recipes, and more. If you want to read more about her “Tour Through Blog Land” experience and learn more about her, click here.

Now to the questions I was asked to fill you in on:

1) What am I working on?- Currently, I am working on just random posts weekly.  I post 2 to 3 times a week (normally on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays) but sometimes life gets chaotic being a stay at home mom to 4 kids and I do what I can. I am currently working on putting together my next “Bloggers Who Have Inspired Me” series (see past ones here, here, here, here and here and here) and would like to do a monthly link up with this series in the near future and feature those bloggers that have inspired me through the link-up. For now I am working out the details (how to create  a button for the link up, advertise it, etc., so stick around so you can link up. I also have two mommy fashion loving ladies who will be presenting themselves to you through my “Featured Blogger Moment” series (see past featured bloggers Amber and Becky

2) How does my work differ from others in it’s genre? I like to post on my weekend outfits, life updates, my family and things that inspire me.  I like to brag about other bloggers whom I love and appreciate (hence the “Blogger’s Who Have Inspired Me” series and “Featured Blogger Moments” series. I also have been told that I an “honest and encouraging blogger” as I try to be real and share when life is good and bad rather than seeming fake. I also wear a lot of thrifted or vintage items from my closet in my outfit posts, adding a touch of new items here and there but I like to shop my closet and remix items in my wardrobe.

3) Why do I write/create what I do?- I like to write because its a creative outlet for me and it’s a way for me to b half way social as  I don’t get out much with 4 kids and I am shy around large groups of people. Sometimes I tink blogging is a release of hidden emotions, thoughts or creativity and I just have to let it out. I also like the responses I get from my readers or companies that want to collaborate with me. (See my collaborate & review policy here).div>

4) How does my writing/creating process work?- As I mentioned above I blog when I can, normally at nighttime and posts get published on Monday’s, Tuesdays (or Wednesdays if not Tuesday) and Thursdays. I don’t follow a set schedule, however certain link ups or certain outfits inspire my posts or the content I blog about.

There are some bloggers I follow that I can’t get enough inspiration and encouragement from. These lades are real, honest and uplifting at times, therefore I have nominated them to participate in the Tour Throuh Blog Land and they will post around September 30th.

I don’t think style should have to be sacrificed due to a budget – and I believe that what you wear affects how you feel. I’m all about affordable style that also displays confidence! I blog dressy and casual looks that I actually wear in my real life.
