Sisters & Thanksgiving

Last night I was honored to host a second year of thanksgiving dinner for some of my family members whom I won’t be eating with on actual Thanksgiving day (like today) due to going to my husbands family get together today instead. Everything turned out perfectly except the Turkey (which we forgot to thaw days in advance) first timer- no judging! Maybe next year we will know better!

My lovely three sisters and I enjoyed a photo session, full of selfies, outfit shots and just pure sisterly love and goofiness. We all had to share this lovely tartan Zara blanket scarf of course. (You can view me styling this scarf here and here).

So today I leave you with some thanksgiving shots of some fun girliness. Tonight my three sisters and I hit up the malls for some deals, but until then time with family is a must.

What are you and your family doing for Thanksgiving?

Bloggers Who Have Inspired Me # 12 link up

Hello and welcome to the 12th “Bloggers Who Have Inspired Me” post/link up. Even though there was a break last week from featuring I was excited when many of you came back and linked up more of your posts anyway, so thank you for thinking of this little new link up party- I am just as excited about it as you must be.

I had the largest number of link ups occur than ever before-26, so thank you, thank you. I also want to thank  those that have regularly been linking up and to the several new followers for linking up. I hope you will enjoy coming back, but until then check out todays featured 5 and remember to link up a recent blog post or more and follow me in some form. This is the FIRST time in a while that I have included thumbnail picture links for more of your enjoyment. I hope you enjoy your Thanksgiving break, time with family and friends. Will see you next Tuesday, December 2 for the next link up.

Feel-Great-Fashion_5

Robyn of @feelgreatfashion is a newbie to the link up, and I to hers Beautiful You so when she linked up this post I fell in love with the colors of this outfit as they made me think of spring and summer all over again. I liked how the blazer tied everything together and how the pumps added an extra pop of unexpected colors. You can check out Robyn’s post here and her link up here.

IMG_8914

Tina of @tickledpinkwoman.BlogSpot.com is a regular linker and I just love her blog, and she is a sweet lady if you haven’t met her yet. Today I am featuring her review of her recent TideBuy cuff bracelet and I just loved how she styled it with her lovely fall apparel. Somehow I have been seeing a lot of TideBuy reviews in blog land but hers sticks out. You can read her post here.

ELVI3

Ashley of @fabellis.com is a blogger I have known for alittle while so I was thrilled when she linked up for the first time recently. Today I am showcasing her layered coat-igan over overalls. I don’t see very many fashion bloggers display overalls but it is a treat when I see it as I like the trend but don’t often times know how to best style them so that they look hip and stylish. I think Ashley nailed it, and how unique is that coat-cardigan (coatigan) she is styling? You can review her post here for more details on this coatigan. *By the way would you like to see a shirt Ashley had sent to me and how I styled it then check it out here.

IMG_2679

Debbie of @fashionfairydust.blogspot.com also linked up a fun layered look combining faux fur, chambray and faux leather and she pulled off the different textures so well I just couldn’t resist NOT featuring her. If you have not checked out her blog you should as she is not just stylish, but downright witty and hilarious. I enjoy reading what she gets herself into. You can check out her post here.

Tif over at @brightonabudget.com linked up a post on her tips for shopping on Black Friday and some ways of saving money (and a trip to the mall or stores). I was intrigued to find out that many stores offer sales pre-black Friday and that some deals aren’t as great as you think. Tif encourages readers to have a plan beforehand of what to shop for, a budget and do research to be sure the products sale is a great deal or not. You can check out her post here to read up more on what she suggests during this busy shopping day or weekend.

Rules of the link up are as follows:

1). Please link up recent posts and include the link up button or post this URL link back on your blog. The posts can be about fashion, DIY projects, recipes, inspiration, tips, etc. *If you link up other link ups or giveaways please be sure you share this link up on your link up post to share the blog love and I will be sure to link up to yours. Cross My Heart

DSC01722
Would you believe this look was just thrown together last minute. I have had all of these clothes and heels in my wardrobe since last fall and thought I would bring them out.
DSC01727
The only new addition to this wardrobe is my new H&M cross necklace, it was $4.95 in the store and how could I resist!!!
DSC01720
I choose to layer this necklace with another thrifted gold chain. I tried to keep the jewelry to a minimal so that there wasn’t so much going on at the top since there is a mixture of prints going on already here.
DSC01716
Throw on a beanie and the look is not only casual but creates a street wear style. This is a look I can’t wait to style with combat boots and leggings instead of jeans in the future. Lucky for me this coming weekend holds boot shopping for me. (Sooo excited!)
DSC01717

What are you bringing out from last years fall wardrobe and what new things are you wearing with it?

Outfit details: Shirt:New Direction (gift)//Cardigan sweater: gift//Skinny jeans:DKNY jeans (old from TJ Maxx)//Shoes: (gift)//cross necklace: H&M in store ($4.95)//gold smalled necklace: thrifted (old)//beanie: Handmade from grandmother-in-law.

To those blessed days…

DSC01675
Too often I take for granted how blessed I really am. I have the Lord Jesus as my Lord and Savior and in my heart, 4 kids, an AWESOME hubby a roof over my head and owned vehicles and more. I am just so glad for all that God has given me in this life. For the days I may not feel blessed I hope this post will not only inspire you, but myself as well.
DSC01667
With the holidays approaching and this holiday or month being about Thankfulness I will be the first to admit that a lot of times I am not thankful enough, instead I just go through life wanting more and more only to find that what I finally got wasn’t enough or what I actually needed.
DSC01684
The day I took these photos my children were all great and went to bed SUPER early than normal, the weather was summery and breezy (unlike the 30 degree and less weather lately).

God made a beautiful day that day and for that I am thankful.
DSC01673
I am thankful that I got this maxi skirt and black top from JCPenny for free with the buy $10 of stuff or more get $10 off coupon. When I feel I don’t have enough- even in clothes God always provides. When I have been with little food, patience, perseverance, faith, clothing- God has provided and for that I am thankful.

What are some things you are thankful for? What are ways you can be thankful this holiday?

Tie it in

zarablanketscarf
This has to be my favorite fall look yet, and you know why? I had to TIE IN my two new favorites to my already favorite long sleeved tee and leopard print shoes and that is my new plaid blanket scarf and H&M bow necklace.

I have been hunting for an affordable bow necklace for awhile now, and although this one was daintier then I would have liked I just am in love with it and it was only $4.95 at H&M. My lovely sister Annalise paid half of her $2 into it because she knew I loved it so much even though I had the money for it already- thanks sister!

This Zara blanket scarf is just the comfiest thing since snuggling up in bed with a book and warm tea. I am so in love with it I can’t wait to purchase another one and SOON!

Ornaments Tradition

The weekend after thanksgiving is normally the held traditional put up the tree.  With all the plastic blue and silver sparkling balls, silver and blue tinsel, blue lights there comes last the ornaments of yearly celebration. These ornaments are hand picked and special.       These are special because each of our children receive an ornament on Christmas of something they personally accomplished that year or liked. It is grandmas job to hand select the item to become an ornament and place the name and date on  the ornament of the child and pass it on as a gift.

DSC01688

Since last Christmas (2013) was the first Christmas for my twins these are the ornaments they received. Grandma hand painted Elizabeths’ to pink and white as they were originally a boyish color.

DSC01689

Xanders first ornament was this little frame, in which I placed his newborn photo (2012). The second ornament is special because Xander loved riding in his Cozy Coupe little tikes car that year as he began to walk (2013).

DSC01690

Nevaeh received a princess ornament last year (2013) and a ballerina in 2012 because she took dance.

DSC01691

I even received an ornament the year my hubby and I were dating/engaged (2009). After a child gets married the tradition breaks with that child and begins again with their children. Now since my hubby and I are married his grandmother no longer passes ornaments on to him, but my hubbies own mother (grandma) give ornaments to our children (her grandkids). Here are my hubbies years worth of ornaments since the time he was born in 1982:

DSC01692

Each of these ornaments tell a story about my hubby and I am so proud of all his accomplishments from soldier, handy man, dog owner, camper, weight lifter with a few of his favorite Disney characters thrown in as well.

I can’t wait to see what ornaments my children get as gifts this year. I thank the efforts of my mother-in-law (grandma) and great grandma for continuing this special and thoughtful tradition.

pumpkin

Megan of @fashionistamomma.com delighted me with a post on her take on pumpkin picking in a grungy fall style. This look definitely reminded me of the fashion of the 90’s which is A-OK in my book. See the original post here, and get a peak at how cute her girls are too.

15593494921_5c6e164182_o

I will admit when I opened Carries post about “Pumpkin Picking Outfit” my eyes just dropped to this look, of course I read the rest of the post but I REALLY enjoyed this outfit on her. The long sweater, cute infinity scarf and boots I would just love to have in my closet right now just resonated my for now dream look. Yes! I am on the hunt for a sweater just like Carries in a grey or caramel color so I will live vicariously through her for now. You look lovely Carrie thank you for the inspiration. You can read her post here.
PicMonkey Collage

Jill of @dousedinpink.BlogSpot.com and Susan of @charminglucy did a “Two Ways to Style a Graphic Tee” post and I just loved their take and different styles  with the same tee that I HAD to share these with you. Jill styled hers with a maxi skirt, while Susan styled hers in mixed prints. I just love how casual these look as well as how simple everyday wearing outfits these are. I also wanted to feature these ladies and their collaboration because I have secretly wanted to do the same thing (style a piece of clothing with another blogger) but haven’t come up with something yet, but I have someone in mind for the spring. You can view their original posts here (Jills) and here (Susans). *If you are interested in future style collaborations let me know in the contact tab above. Thanks*

Fall-Outfit-Formula-and-Feature-03-682x1024

Marta of  @sweatersstripesandsweets.com linked up a look a lot like Carries above only I just loved the  grey skinny pants and flats- this is definitely my go to look in real life. I also have grey skinny jeans on my wishlist and have for half a year now so I just loverd Martas’. You can view the original post here.

Thoughfulness/Encouagement:

Becky of @bybmg.BlogSpot.com posted a quite thoughtful post on encouragement for women who have or know someone who has gone through miscarriages, loss of a child, struggles of getting pregnant, etc. As an expectant mother to her third right now she is writing in awareness that sometimes it might be rough for some people to hear this wonderful news. I read her post in tears because I myself have been there with a miscarriage and so has she. I was so encouraged by her words and thoughtfulness. I hope you can check the post out here.

Thank you for coming by today and for linking up, I hope you meet some amazing sweet new bloggers and become inspired yourself. Now please take a look at the rules, link up and check back here on Tuesdays to see who I have featured. Yours could be one of 5. Thanks!

Girls (moms) night out

Happy Monday! How was your weekend? Mine was wonderful and I will tell you why in a bit, but first I wanted to show you my latest obsession- this Zara plaid blanket scarf.
DSC01636

DSC01635
I believe it is DEFINITELY my new favorite scarf. It is warm and so versatile, I just can’t get enough of it.
DSC01637
DSC01638
I have already pinned a million (well not quite a million) ways to wear it too on pinterest. I cannot wait to style this scarf in multiple ways. Now on to my weekend and girl or mom talk.

I have come to learn that in every mom or wifes life there comes a time where you just want to be free of responsibilities or kids, this past Friday night it happened. For four hours I was kid-less and chose this time to spend with two of my sisters shopping. It was glorious to laugh at the wittiness and attitudes of my sisters (both speak their mind to much), as oppose to my shy personality. The quality time and good deals were also a plus.
DSC01641
Lately, I have been learning that moms often times feel guilty to have alone- enjoyment time, am I alone in this? I brought up this question to a group of other moms or single women alike at church the other night in Bible study and found I wasn’t alone. Even if you are not a mom, I also learned years ago that sometimes even wives with or without children need separation from the stress of life and just do things for self. Examples might be going to get a facial, go for a long drive, soak with a book and candles in a warm bath etc. I have been taking a few more hot baths lately, online shopping when I can because I have learned that I need to treat myself or the old saying comes true “If momma ain’t happy nobody is happy.”
Before I get to the details of the outfit I wore above for my girls night out. I would like to share some links of other blogging friends of mine and their take on taking a break as a mom. I enjoyed these and I hope you will too.
selfcare
Keri shared on how to start a habit each week of self-care in some form, and shared encouragement on this. You can find her post here.
GirlsNight
Keri also shared on how important it is to make time with friends without kids and some ideas on what to do with friends, like coffee, shopping, a painting or craft night, etc,. Read the post here.
whyevermomneedstotake
Elizabeth took time away from kids, phone and social media to enjoy a good hard copy book, coffee and making short term and long term goals. Read her post here.

What are some things you do for a girls night out? What do you like to do to treat yourself?

Featured Blogger Moment: Keri

Today I am thrilled to introduce to you a blogger named Keri whom I just consider such an uplifting, encouraging and mentoring partner in the blogging world. Whenever I seem to go through some personal issues or struggles as a mom sometimes her posts just encourage me and seem to be what God wanted me to read and know in that moment when I know I have needed guidance or Him the most. Keri also blogs about children’s theme lesson plans and crafts to all things family orientated. I am just excited for what she is going to share with you today. Without further adieu here is Keri.</p

Hello, my name is Keri and I share over at Living In This Season. I was so excited when Rachel asked me to share a little with you all. It has been such a joy meeting Rachel and getting to know her more.
I am the wife to my husband of 9 years and mama to 3 little ones, ages 5, 2, and 5 months. Blogging is a way that I can share with others as we each go through different seasons of life. When we all are encouraging and uplifting one another, life’s trials can be lightened.
family5
1). For anyone that happens upon your blog what do you hope they take away from it? What encouragement would you give?
I hope and pray they will leave encouraged and excited about life. Trust me when I say, my life is not all cute kid’s crafts and organized spaces. Life is messy, friends, isn’t it? The unexpected happens… things do not always go as we plan. I hope my readers leave knowing that they are not alone and perhaps inspired… whether that be to go create a project, read with your little one, or go on a date with your husband. So often, we go through the rough seasons of life and think “I am all alone.” But I am here to tell you that you are NOT alone! I recently started a series called A Letter To… which is a place where others will come in and share encouragement about a different season of life. I am hoping and praying this can be a way for us to build community and grow together.
2). As a mother of multiple children how would you describe balancing time with each child? Together? Any suggestions or tips?
Balance… this word is constantly whirling through my mind. One main thing I try to keep in mind is to give myself grace. I could waste all day sitting here thinking how my toddler doesn’t get as much attention now that we have a baby, but you know what that is pointless! He is very much loved and has special moments. One thing we try to do is go on dates with the kids. Our dates are nothing fancy. Sometimes, I will take one of the boys with me to run errands and we will get a special treat. The other boy stays with my husband and baby and he will do a special activity or game with them. Once my daughter is older, we will incorporate this with her too. We are trying to build in a sense of love and family… we are big on having family nights!
3). As a former preschool teacher what are some things you brought from the classroom environment into the home as a stay at home mom? Creativity wise or more?
I love crafts. I am that mom who will be doing a ton of Turkey crafts this November, because I love it! If it stresses you out, that is fine, do something else with your kids. But for me, it is something I love and enjoy to do with my kids. Also, I am a huge fan of having theme weeks. Honestly, we are still figuring out a new routine with my oldest in school and having a baby, but I am working on having simple activities with my toddler throughout the week.
4). Describe your personality in one word and why?
Encouraging. I really have such a desire to encourage others. Whether it is my husband, my kids, my family, friends, through the blogging world. I love to bring a little joy to others’ lives.
5). Could you tell us more about your new etsy shop and why you create what you do?
I have always loved being crafty. Pretty much all of our home decor has been inspired from a Pinterest project. I find myself seeing something in a store and saying why would I buy that? I bet I could figure out how to make this. HAHA! (Which sometimes ends in an epic fail!). But back to the Etsy Shop. Friends and family have been telling me over the years to open one, but I was not sure. It is kind of nerve-wracking stepping out there and promoting your stuff. But I did it, and am loving it! I sell a little bit of a variety (kind of like my blog, just a variety). So far I have holiday banners, birthday banners, baby mobiles, and a thankful tree in the shop. The Thankful Tree has been my biggest seller so far- which I love! I love seeing others inspired to do this activity with their family and helping them to do so.
6). Finally, how can readers be in contact with you?
I love connecting with others and would love to connect. Feel free to contact me at kerisnyder(at)gmail(dot)com or through social media.
